Electronic mail, abbreviated e-mail or email is a method of composing, sending and receiving messages over the Electronic Communication System.

The enormous development of the Internet has enabled emails conveying useful information, to be transmitted simultaneously to several recipients worldwide in a matter of seconds. The Power, Reach and Sophistication of Emails are such that it has become the most inexpensive and effective way to promote your Internet Marketing Business.

Building opt-in lists has become part and parcel of the ritual of Internet Marketing today. Let’s see what exactly the emails do to help the Internet Marketer?

1. I am right here.
Emails remind people that you exist, that you are right here and that you are a living entity. It further helps to project your image and personality. It is nothing but natural that people tend to forget you after some time and reminding them by email without harassing them is a way of ensuring that they remeber you, your product or website.

2. Traffic to your Website,
Email is acknowledged as the most effective way to drive traffic to you site. It is the email that keeps your clients and prospects returning to your site. This traffic without question is the very life blood of your Internet Marketing Business.

3. Building Awareness.
One wonderful aspect of the email and used all too often by the Internet Marketers is to Alert Customers, clients, users and friends of products, articles and events. In addition the email alerts, play a prominent role in the promotion of new products and technologies.

4. Building Trust and Confidence.
Sending emails is not a one off action. In addition to reaching out to customers, it is also used to follow up customers. Confirmation emails have become the norm today, especially after orders or subscriptions are placed. Over a period of time these email messages build trust and credibility between the parties concerned.

5. Building a feeling of Togetherness.
Receiving regular emails from organizations and groups makes you feel wanted and creates a bond or feeling of togetherness with that organization or group. Even if reciprocal action is not seen immediately it will ultimately create a bond if your emails are handled properly.

6. Sharing of Emails.
Another great advantage of emails is that it can be shared. Special promotions or informative content in Newsletters or emails are quite often circulated among friends and the end result is more traffic. Tell a friend images in websites too induce visitors to web sites to send email messages to friends informing them of their newly discovered product or information.

These are some of the main benefits enjoyed by the Internet Marketers but unfortunately the usefulness of emails is today being threatened by Spamming i.e. sending of unsolicited emails. It is hoped that technology will catch up with them before long. Nevertheless Internet Marketers continue to send millions of emails everyday with even more added sophistication such as embedded pictures and music.

Today the email has become such an inexpensive powerful medium of communication that it has become a reliable friend and an excellent indispensable tool of Successful Internet Marketers.

Email Newsletter Templates: HTML

Advice and ideas about using free HTML email newsletter templates; including, how to find templates and how you can develop your own.
email, newsletter, template, email newsletter template
Looking for free HTML newsletter templates to send by email?

If you can find one that works for you, it’s a great idea. You’ll save time and money, and perhaps get a better design than you would if you created your own.

A number of online sites do offer free HTML email templates, and to find them just type in the phrase “free templates” or variations at any major search engine or directory. Follow the links and take a look at what’s offered.

In many cases, you’ll find that the designers hope to upsell you to a paid version of the template with more features, and that’s okay. Without those paid versions, there won’t be free templates for long. The best bet is to work with a free version first, and if it meets your basic needs, then upgrade to the paid version when the time is right for you.

In addition to finding a design you like, you’ll also need to play around with the template to make sure you can work with it easily and effectively. In my experience, some otherwise fine free templates are too difficult to work with, and therefore out of contention.

And, plan on spending a few hours looking for, and testing, templates. In addition to the existence of many sites, there’s also time needed to download the code and play around with it. When we do this, of course, we begin to wonder if perhaps a low-cost template might be a better idea than a free template, and that widens the scope again.

Now, if you didn’t find a template that fits your vision for your newsletter, you can look for examples among other newsletters. Subscribe to a number of newsletters that serve the same target audience as you do, and see what they’re doing. You can find other newsletters by doing a search for “newsletter directory” in one of the search engines.

Use one of those designs as a starting point. You can either do the design yourself, or hire a web designer to create one for you. Please note: I did say use these designs as a starting point. If you take someone else’s design without permission, that could be construed as theft, and be far more trouble than developing your own design.

Email Marketing: design tips to improve your open rates.

Simple tips to help improve the open rates of your next email newsletter through a better understanding of how your subscribers see your message in their email application preview pane.
Email Marketing
Many email marketers frequently fail to realize that their subscriber’s email application preview pane is the first opportunity their content has to attract the attention they require. And unfortunately those that don’t allow for a snapshot preview in their content design fall victim to lower than expected open rates as their subscribers are less likely to open the message in full.

Here are four simple steps you can to take to ensure your next email message preview pane design gets all the attention it should:

First, be aware that prior to Outlook 2003, the preview your subscriber sees runs horizontally along the foot of their screen. In Outlook 2003, this view is a vertical slice showing the left hand side of your content.

As a tip take a blank sheet of paper and then reveal the top third of your next message and then the left third. Does what you see in both instances seem interesting enough to entice your subscribers to click on?

Second, by allowing for the thinnest of newsletter mastheads, you should cram into these viewable snippets as much content as you can. Plus, if this content tells your subscriber exactly what your message contains, then the chances of them opening it increase even further.

Third, don’t have too many images cluttering the preview space. By default, my version of Outlook 2003 suppresses all images sent to me in HTML messages. All I see is a sea of red crosses, which tells me nothing about the message. (I tend to leave these messages until later, which CAN become NEVER! Your subscribers may well do the same.)

And finally the smart newsletter designers use images sparingly in this top part. Even better, they build their masthead using not images, but HTML text and colour to effectively get across their message. As a consumer, I’m far more tempted to break my train of thought and dig down deeper into that juicy piece of content I can see.

Thus, by treating the preview pane of your newsletter as a quick-peek mini-summary for your subscribers, you are on the right track to grab a new client!

It’s simple really–the quicker your readers are intrigued by the very first lines of your email, the more they will read them.

Automating with Autoresponders

Automation is an important part to any business. The less time you devote to doing small redundant tasks the more time you will have to devote to primary business activities, such as: product development, advertising, customer service, and list building. Or, you may want to have more time for enjoying other things in life other than working, so the more you automate your business the more time you will have available to spend on whatever you desire.

Putting an online business on autopilot is not very difficult and much of it can be done by simple using autoresponders to do many simple tasks for you. An autoresponder is a software program that you pay usage fees for, or that you buy and put on your own hosting account’s server. It is a program that responds to email inquiries from other people with whatever you program it to send out. And it can also easily be programmed to send out email messages that you enter into it at whatever time you want. Therefore an autoresponder, abbreviated AR, can be used for many purposes to assist in handling business communication activities.

An AR can be used to promote your products or services and to get people to visit your website. Just type or copy and paste your sales or informational message into your AR and have it sent out to whoever you have entered into the AR. Then, when a person receives your message and visits your web site and makes a purchase you can have your AR setup to deliver another message to them. The message would thank them for their purchase and then deliver their product and receipt to them.

You may also program it to give your customers detailed instructions on how to go about obtaining their products and describing other products you have to offer that they may be also be interested in purchasing. In this way you have the ability to promote more products and possibly make more sales. You can also program your AR to send out follow-up messages a day or two after a purchase to ask customers if they are satisfied with their purchase. This assists in building strong customer relations and also gives you another opportunity to promote more products while saving your time.

It will also allow you to make more “back-end?sales by using follow up messages every few days. It is advisable to always include some meaningful and relevant information in your follow up messages so your messages do not appear to just be blatant sales messages, which most people do not generally like or appreciate. The beauty of all this is that you can be off doing something else while much of your business communication activities are being handled automatically by your AR.

Autoresponders are great for training and teaching purposes. Many college professors who teach correspondence courses set up their lessons in an AR and then send them to their students at specified times throughout the semester. And, because the courses being taught often do not vary much from semester to semester, or from year to year, the lessons can be set up one time and used over and over again with only minor adjustments being needed.

ARs are great for providing training lessons to all types of groups. For example, a 12 week training course can be written in advance and then scheduled for deliver when the time is appropriate. The lessons can even be set up to be delivered to different groups at different time intervals. ARs are great for keeping members of an organization informed of upcoming events, deadlines, and special offers or promotions.

Promoting products for sale is one of the most popular uses of autoresponders in online business. But when using an AR to promote your sales just realize that most potential customers do not like the direct “hard sale?approach and it has been documented that on an average a potential customer must hear from you at least 7 times before a sale is made. It is usually best to contact potential customers in the first 2 to 4 messages with valuable information that is interesting for them to read or use in their lives. It is good to give away something of interest and value and to thank them for subscribing to your email newsletter or ezine.

It has been said that the best way to entice sales is to build interest slowly and start with an informative message about something that interests your reader. And, when you do try to make a sale be sure to focus on a problem or solution that your product or service will help resolve for them. Gain their confidence by providing free information that is relevant, accurate, and informative for them.

There are many AR services available and you can certainly find them by doing a search with any of the main search engine services. Many AR services will give you free limited service, but be cautious of these AR services because they will put their advertisements on all of your outgoing messages, or limited the amount of messages and subscribers you can send to. These things certainly will not help your business any. Be very careful when choosing and signing up with an autoresponder service to use in your business.

Some popular ARs frequently used are listed below:

And, of course there are many, many more so please do a good and thorough investigation and analysis before deciding which AR to use. If you are a beginner then you may want to try the free service listed on the last line above. It is called, “EGGS?for short. It is very easy to understand and to use. It does have some limitations but it has plenty of functionality for most people and there is no cost
involved unless you would like to donate.

An opt in list full of hungry subscribers are the soul and spirit of any online business existence. But how do you build it so that the subscribers will respond to every offer that you introduce them? First, we will take a look at what makes an online business and the techniques of getting hungry subscribers into your opt in list.

Every online business provides great service to generate satisfaction among their customers. As each and every customer receives satisfaction over their products or the services they get, there is a great chance that they will become a return customer and buy again. Better yet, they will recommend you to other people that could generate more business for you and your site.

As more traffic is driven to your site, you can entice many of them to subscribe to your mailing list or opt-in list. This is a list where in website visitors agree to be sent promotional materials such as newsletters, catalogs and such that could keep them updated about your site or the niche of your site. These promotional materials are sent via e-mail to the members of the list in different time intervals.

When using e-mail as the media of your marketing and advertisements, you eliminate the need for high costs. Email is free and if you can manage to make your own promotional advertisements you can also save a bundle there. With an opt-in subscribers list, you are pretty sure that what you are sending out is received, viewed and read by the subscribers and not simply being deleted. They have signed up for service and have consented in receiving it.

This means that there are constant reminders to your subscribers about all your products, new products and services as well as any promotions and special deals you are having. There is also the chance that they can be forwarded to other potential customers as they tell their friends and families about you and your site.

Of course you should be also aware that a subscriber may unsubscribe when they feel that they are not getting what they want or expected. Make sure that they are satisfied with your opt-in marketing strategies and keep them excited in receiving your newsletters and catalogs. Here are some tips that can help you build a list of eager subscribers.

Make your promotional materials interesting and fun. Try to use a little creativity but not too over artsy. Build around what your product or service is about. For example; if you are selling car parts, put some pictures of what is new in the auto parts world, a new wing door possibly that can fit any car and make it look like a Lamborghini.

Try to research what people are looking for, these way, you stay one step ahead of them all the time and you will be their bearer of new tidings. They will be eager to receive what you are sending them because they new you always have fresh and new things to share with them.

Write good articles that can be very informational but light at the same time. If your subscribers enjoy your articles, they will go to your site by clicking the links that you will be putting on your newsletter to read some more. You can provide articles that can connect to many people. Be diverse in your articles. Put something humorous, then put something informational, then put something that has both.

Are you wary about this because you don’t like writing? No problem, there are many professional and experienced article writers that can do the job for you for minimal fees. They know what they are doing and can provide the need that you have for your newsletters, the money that you pay for your articles are going to be met by the many sign-ups and the potential profit from the sales that you will get.

Create and send an E-book to your customers about anything that is related to your business or site. Use your knowledge and expertise in the field you have chosen to help other people who are similarly interested. Offer this e-book for free. You can write about anything informational and helpful to your subscribers. For example; you can do manuals and guides in so many things. This e-book could be used as a reference for many people.

Share this e-book with everyone, even other sites; just make sure that they don’t change the links in the e-book that will lead people to your site. If you want, you can always get some people to write it for you just like your articles. Your investment once again will be covered by the great marketing this will generate.

Add e-coupons in your newsletters that will help them avail to special discounts. Put a control number in your e-coupon so that they can only be used once. When people get discounts that can be found in your newsletters, they will be eager to receive your newsletter in anticipation of what you are promoting next.

If your subscribers can get benefits from your newsletters, they will be very eager to receive them. Just don’t flood your mailing list with mails so that you don’t annoy your subscribers.

How would you feel if you could send out all the information that your potential customers have requested without checking your email?….sound good?!While this may seem impossible, it is becoming more and more popular among the most successful internet marketing people. And the reason for this: an Auto responder..!

An Auto responder is an automatic method of responding to emails sent by existing or potential customers and is a must for any Internet Business or organization. Time is money and answering e-mails personally takes far too much of your already valuable time for you and your customers. Auto responders allow you to spend this time on other important aspects of your business whilst the customer receives the information required almost immediately

Because of the versatility of Auto-responders they can be used by practically any type of business. Answering questions about products and services, providing information on pricing and delivery including being used to welcome new customers to your website and thanking them for visiting.

Plus e-mail addresses of possible customers so that you can post update and new information to them.

It is crucial to choose the right one. An auto-responder should enable you to be as personal as etiquette allows in sending out follow ups to all potential customers as persistence has been proven to pay off. It often takes as many as 7 e-mails before any sale in finalised. In some cases the customers have asked for specific information and therefore an Auto-responder should allow unlimited space for the text to do this. But generally speaking advertisement should be short, direct and to the point.

An Autoresponder should not be under estimated as they are a vital tool for selling online, they automate the follow-up sales process, sending information at pre set intervals and can be programmed up to 10 years ahead with the Autoresponder set to do its job you really can make money while you sleep.

People don’t normally buy on their first visit to a web site, they like to window shop searching for the right product at the right price. Having an Autoresponder is like a having a very cheap salesman working 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year.

A website offering a free e book or download will require the potential customer to leave his or her email address for delivery. It is then the Autoresponder comes alive. Pre set with instructions An Autoresponder will send at a preset time a number of messages informing the customer of the product they looked at on your site, just like a salesperson it will let them know all about the product, what it does, why its better than your competitors, what it will do for them, and keep them up to date with the latest news and offers by text voice or video.

Professionally done follow ups will be etching the name and product into the customer’s brain, gaining their trust to buy from the site again and again.

Having a website these days is just not enough, there are millions of websites and hundreds of sites offering the same sort of products. An edge is required over competitors to entice shoppers to a site and buy. The Autuoresponder alone will not give the website the edge but I doubt the edge will be obtained without an Autoresponder.

Email etiquette-losing business when you miss manners

Network etiquette is understood to be one basic rule: show consideration for the other party online. Until now, the edict has been written mostly from the point of view of relationships between individuals, or between businesses and consumers. One important group has often been overlooked: business-to-business (B2B). Business-to-business etiquette is a growing, evolving behaviour model for how to present oneself and represent one’s company when networking online. It is for this group that etiquette plays the most crucial part. The slightest improper behaviour online can ruin a good business opportunity. The guidelines were established from no central source but through a collaborative process that grew along with the Internet
Where businesses fail

Requesting reciprocal links

Asking for free advice

Requesting business services
Where businesses fail

Business operators new to the Web are eager to solicit prospects and partnerships online but are generally ignorant about how to go about it professionally. Without knowledge of B2B etiquette, your actions can be taken for rudeness or incompetence, leaving the other party with a poor impression of your company.

Whether you solicit new partnerships or seek to maintain and build relationships with current businesses, the key is to prevent misunderstanding and not give offence.

When sending email:

Fight the urge to be creative Avoid using multiple fonts, size and colours. No HTML or rich media, either. Keep it all in plain text.

Keep it punctual. Do not write a lengthy email and do not use jargon or talk with an overly hip attitude. For your signature file, do not use cute quotes (unless it happens to be the slogan of your business).

Watch your tone. Don’t speak in terms of how great you think your company is. Speak from the point of view of the other business to say, “Look what we can do for you.”

Size matters. Don’t tie up people’s email by sending large, unsolicited attachments. If you have to send a large file, give warning, check on a time most appropriate to send it, such as before or after regular working hours, or send it in segments.

Use discretion. Something that might seem funny to you might be patently offensive to someone else. Even if the person on the other end has no problem with what you’re sending, other people in their office could glance at the offending message. If you’re that inclined to show or tell the person what you have, ask for a non business email address you can send it to where they can review it with more privacy.

Requesting reciprocal links

Planning to feature a hyperlink on your page to a business site? Proper etiquette involves giving the site owners notice. Explain why you would like to feature them on your site, where you plan to feature them, and the description you plan on using with their link.

If you’re soliciting another company to link to your site, provide some background information. Give a brief introduction, a description on your company, and how your site would be a benefit to the prospect’s audience.

Make sure your link has relevance to the other company’s site. If yours is a car company, you shouldn’t solicit a Web design company for a link. Offer something in return, such as a reciprocal link, that is, you linking to the other site as well, and/or some specific comments about that site.

It doesn’t leave the solicited with a good impression if you expect something and offer nothing. A generic link request is about the worst thing you can do. It shows you have nothing to say about the site, and yet you expect its operator to do something for you.

Asking for free advice

There’s nothing wrong with asking your colleagues for advice. However, expecting free business advice from people you don’t know personally – and for your own business gain – is a very touchy issue.

If you are set on asking a company or an individual whom you have never met for advice, handle yourself with the greatest care.

1. Introduce yourself.
2. Give your profession and or skill background. If you are a student, mention where and what you are studying.
3. Explain why you need the advice and how you plan to use it

To make a better impression, mention an interest in the person’s site or works, and what you found there to be helpful or interesting.

Most importantly, before you ask people for advice, search that person’s Web sites first – then the search engines and directories – to see if the answer is already available to you.

Even if the business does not have the answer readily available, showing that you put in an effort will make its owners more open to referring you to another site that might have the information you seek.

Requesting business services

If you are soliciting another business to provide you with services, it is incredibly rude to expect a work commitment without a contractual arrangement. Some common examples are:

Telling a business owner to look at your Web site or your other online works, and asking what would improve them

Expecting business owners to create a few samples so they can wait for your decision

Offering to pay for work based on increased revenue, such as pay for performance. If you want some assurance as to work and service quality, look at a portfolio and ask for references

B2B etiquette means knowing how to present yourself online with the same degree of formality and professionalism you would in a face-to-face meeting.

The next time you attempt relations with a new business, stop to think how the person on the other end is likely to receive your communication. Put yourself in those shoes and ask, “What kind of impression do I make?”

Create Your Three Letter Autoresponder Follow-Up

A woman told me this week, “Your advertising is wasted if you don’t follow-up on your leads.” Her solution is to use a multiple autoresponder that sends her prospects a new sales message very few days.

People need to see your ad message several times before they buy. Those who buy on the first ad have already made up their mind after seeing someone else’s ad. Yours had the good fortune of reaching the customer at just the right time.

You can greatly increase sales with a three letter multiple autoresponder. There are a number of places to get these autoresponders free (fastfacts.net, getresponse.com, smartbotpro.net) and others who sell up-graded service at low cost.

Make your first letter briefly present your offer. It should be designed to get attention and bring in those who tend to quickly make up their minds to buy.

Your second sales letter should arrive the next day. Make it longer and filled with details. About 70 percent of consumers are folks who need ALL the details before they will purchase. List your features and connect them with the benefit your customer will get from those features.

Your third sales letter should be scheduled to arrive several days later. Start with “Successful people are busy. I know you probably saw my earlier messages, considered them, but haven’t yet had time to respond.”

Then give them another rundown on your offer. Bring in a fresh angle so it doesn’t seem like they are reading the same letter they saw a few days ago.

More than three sales letters tend to get ignored. If you want to send more, have your fourth and fifth letters arrive weeks or months later. Scheduling a new letter to arrive every month can catch a prospect when they’re ready to buy.

Offer Your Own Email Course

One of the most successful marketing techniques I’ve found is offering your own course via autoresponders. I introduced my Make Your Website Sell course (yes, before MYSS came out) and it is still getting gobs of sign-ups every day.

Here is how to create yours:

1. Pick a problem that lots of your customers struggle with. In my business the big stumpers are getting a site that sells, finding a way to handle email, figuring out search engines, and finding low-cost ways to advertise effectively.

A course on any of these is guaranteed to bring lots of interested prospects and customers (and you can bet I’m plugging my ads here and there during the course).

Your course could be on how to complete a basement, how to avoid an IRS audit, how to give your kids straight teeth, or anything else that customers often ask about.

2. If you don’t write or have time to pen your own articles, look for others who have written on the topic. It is perfectly legal to put their ideas in your own words (always proper to give them credit).

You can also quote the article. It is best to ask in advance, if your course is for commercial purposes. Start your article, then say expert Jane Doe has some valuable information. Include a few paragraphs of what Jane wrote. Be careful not to use so much you give away her entire article and spoil her ability to sell the information.

This is because it is the most widely-used and has the best reputation in bringing targeted traffic to websites. It is used to stay in touch with your customers or prospective customers, send out invitations, or make special offers.

It’s as easy as writing an e-mail that may be in a form of a newsletter or a plain announcement, and sending that to as many targeted recipients as possible. However, there’s an ideal way of going about it. Email marketing is not just about writing any email that you will be sending to anybody. To clarify that, here are some simple tips in doing email marketing the best way possible.

1. Join the “Can Spam” campaign.

Email marketing is not at any rate tantamount to spamming. You are not supposed to send information that your email list will not have any valuable use for.

2. Make your email list open it.

Your email might get lost together with the hundreds of emails that inbox owners are confronted with everyday. Improve your subject line by using extra white space creatively, adding text symbols, starting each word with a capital letter, asking compelling questions, not making any unbelievable claims, and not using the word FREE.

3. Keep it real.

Not including any too good to be true statements is not only applicable to your subject line. Your email content must never embody any promise your business can’t keep. Make your offer genuinely of value to your recipients.

4. Don’t go too low.

If you inform your customers regarding discounts, minimal discounts are not that effective compared with substantial discounts. But never offer discounts that are lower than your profit. It will defeat the purpose of this email marketing effort.

5. Make it eventful.

It’s not about contradicting the advice that you should keep an email short and sweet. This tip is on including seminars, conferences and other events in your email. Businesses that require training benefit much from this method. With these RSVP-requiring emails, repetition is important. Just make sure that an ample interval is considered before sending out a reminder email.

6. Post news.

Sending newsletters and postcards provides useful information for your subscribers. These are the best forms of reaching out to your customers or prospects. You should keep the information short, simple and direct to the point for this feat to be effective.

With these simple ways of going about your email marketing endeavor, your business will prosper in no time.
